Harmony parts encouraged where they exist! We may also play songs outside of the Suzuki books with different parts for each instrument group. We will work on how to be a good ensemble citizen, learning about cueing, rehearsal techniques, and listening to each other.

Adult Ensemble: This is an ensemble class for all violas, violins and cellos who are over 18 years old. This class is open to ANY skill level and we will tailor the music selections based on who signs up for the section. We will do a mixture of Suzuki songs and ensemble music that is outside of the Suzuki repertoire. New music will be provided ahead of time so people have a chance to look at their parts if they wish. The goal of this class is to have fun playing music outside of your solitary practice room!

MOVEMENT

Rueda de Casino: Group Social Dance with Sarah Town

Rueda de Casino is a high-energy and spontaneous dance form that combines elements from Cuban son, cha-cha-cha, and North American swing dance in a circle format similar to square dancing. Dance pairs execute turns and patterns and exchange partners in time with the music according to calls that occur during the dance. This beginner level class will introduce the basics of partnering, the circle structure, and the rueda de casino vocabulary. Dancers will learn how to interact in the circle and how to take their new moves out of the circle into partner and solo (suelta) dance settings. The course will be progressive.
