Missed Lessons: Your Options
When a lesson is missed, students may have several options available depending on the circumstances.
Make-Up Lesson Weeks:
Four make-up lesson weeks are included each academic year.
- Make-up weeks are used first to cover teacher absences and any lessons canceled by the school that cannot be provided in person, online, or asynchronously.
- Any remaining make-up lessons may be used for eligible student absences.
- Students attend make-up lessons during their regularly scheduled day and time.
- Lessons canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice and no-show appointments are not eligible for make-up credit.
- Unused make-up credits expire at the beginning of each new academic year.
- Missed make-up lessons cannot be rescheduled.
Online Lesson Option:
When the school closes due to weather or illness, lessons will move online whenever possible. Students may also request an online lesson when illness, travel, transportation issues, or other circumstances prevent in-person attendance. Students who decline an available online lesson may not be eligible for a make-up credit.
Asynchronous Lesson Option
Students may choose an asynchronous lesson format when appropriate. Details and instructions are available in the student portal or on paper form in building. Options may include:
- Uploading a video for teacher feedback
- Completing activities from a teacher-created choice board
Bonus Lessons
Students who miss a lesson may be able to schedule an additional “bonus lesson.”
- Teachers may post available openings online.
- Students can review available times and schedule a bonus lesson when openings exist.

WITHDRAWAL POLICY
We encourage committing to lessons through a full academic year but we understand there are normal ebbs and flows when learning any skill. Should a student wish to pause or stop lessons, the following policies apply regardless of where we are in the school calendar. A completed withdrawal form, available either online in the student portal or on paper in the TMS entryway, is required to withdraw. Notifying only the instructor, non-attendance, and non-payment are not considered withdrawals.
- Students with less than 4 lessons: refund for all scheduled & prepaid classes or lessons after the date of withdrawal
- After the 4th scheduled lesson: a minimum of 30 days notice to school & instructor. Withdrawal forms are available in student portal or paper forms available in building. Payment is still due for all lessons up to the withdrawal date (attended or non-attended). Students may continue lessons to cover what has already been paid.
