Leah Webster is a classically trained cellist hailing from Durham, North Carolina. She began her studies in her hometown of Orlando, FL with Kathleen Weidley and Shirley Tabachnick and continued her studies with Brent Wissick at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, receiving a BA in music.

At UNC, Leah played extensively with the UNC Symphony, UNC Baroque Ensemble, and the University Chamber Players. Midway through college, Leah joined a local indie-folk project called Lost in the Trees. She has since recorded and toured nationally with the ANTI- records artist, and she has also toured internationally with The Bowerbirds. Other bands that Leah has been involved with are The Rosebuds, the Love Language, The Beast, Hammer No More the Fingers, Fan Modine, Chris Stamey, and Daniel Hart.

Leah currently plays with a North Indian classical/Appalachian fusion ensemble called Hindugrass. She also has her own band, Beauty World, with Duncan Webster of Hammer No More the Fingers.

Leah believes learning the cello involves developing good technique and practicing skills that open up opportunities to perform and explore every different style of music. She loves helping students pursue their musical and stylistic interests, and is happy to find the best path to each student’s individual goals.
